Big Changes Ahead for Algebra 2 Students
Note taking will become mandatory and will be assessed frequently. You do not need to ask about taking notes- You will be expected to take notes every day. Your note taking will be the Cornell system of note taking. Journals will be required the second semester. I will be giving you more information in just a few days.
Detentions- High school students know how to behave. I see many of them at work and their behavior is fine. Misbehavior at school is chosen. I have asked students if any of them do not know how to behave and guess what- I have not gotten one student who has told me that he or she does not know how to behave well. Becoming angry, misbehaving, talking out or talking inappropriately are all chosen behaviors. The statement, " That's the way I am" is only true because of willful choice. No one needs to stay angry. Happiness , obedience and a well spent life are all free will choices. Have a wonderful day- Make it happen!!! I keep detention for those who have made the wrong choices on purpose. Bell work is for me to see how someone understands, not how a group understands. Therefore, talking during bell work is prohibited. Other talking must be subject oriented. There is not enough time to talk about other things. Class work begins after bell work and I expect students to participate. If I should call on someone then the other students should listen and not interrupt when the student is answering. Dialog with other students about the subject matter is a plus for all. Follow my rules and no detention will given. Detention is usually for 15 minutes. Multiple incidences of misbehavior in the same day will result in a call to parents , a write- up or both.
