 My Brief Autobiography

I was born in East Tennessee, but my parents moved to Ohio when I was eight months old. Many of my relatives lived in East Tennessee and I wanted to live there, too. I graduated from high school in Ohio. I was a member of  the National Honor Society. While attending high school I was very active in Boy Scout activities. I earned the Eagle rank (highest rank) and I earned 38 merit badges. Only 21 was required for Eagle.  See the Eagle picture below. It shows the Eagle medal.

I graduated from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. I majored in biology and mathematics with minors in chemistry and physics. Abraham Lincoln chose the site for a college. He never saw it come to pass. The cane he had when he was assassinated is on that campus as well as many other items. There is a Lincoln museum on campus.

I have taught for a number of years. I have taught mostly mathematics and science on every level from Grade 6 through college. I have taught more than 50 different named courses including some college courses I never had. I taught college for 10 years. I have 3 graduate degrees: religious education, science education, and mathematics education. My Ed.S. in mathematics education, is from Florida State.

I have been married for 39 years. I have 2 children and 6 grandchildren. Two of my grandsons attend this campus. Both are doing very well in mathematics! and in their other subjects.

I like to read, watch gymnastics, swimming , and ice skating. I do not attend movies frequently. I have seen fewer than 8 movies at movie theaters since I was married. I have rented only a few.

I am a member of Mensa. Click on the green Mensa and then click on games. Enjoy!
